THE GREAT DESIGN
Why is Design so important?
Because all design begins with an idea, an intention, a target (see DESIGN: what's the idea?)
When God, the Almighty Designer, constructed our cosmos, it was because He had an idea, an intention, a plan.
So we do not live in an entirely pointless, accidental universe, but one that is fulfilling God's original intention when He made it in the beginning.
What could be more important?
His plan is still in progress, and we have a part to play in it. Its eventual outcome is beyond anything that we can imagine or hope for!
The world we live in is not the world that God saw in the beginning, when He pronounced the newly-formed earth as 'very good'. It is a world sadly corrupted and defiled by man's sin, by our rejection of God and His ways. The essential
human story is of redemption, God's plan to save us from ourselves through His son Jesus Christ; to bring us back to Him and to restore His creation to its original purity, when all humanity will recognise Him and enjoy His essential goodness.
It will be so different to today that it is described as a completely new order of things, a 'new heaven' and a 'new earth':
"...in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells."
2 Peter 3:13
The future world revolution
"In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure for ever."
Daniel 2: 44
"For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea."
Habakkuk 2: 14
"Look! God's dwelling place is now among the people, and He will dwell with them... He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away...
I am making everything new!"
Revelation 21: 3–5
The idea becomes a reality! A new world – God's plan is complete.
And He invites us to be part of that new world order.
